Dear Miss Nish,

I can tell most of the girls that are entering questions are teens, so they probably know the answer to this. I am only eleven, and don’t have a clue what this answer is so here is my question…..Why are boys so weird???

Dear Pretty Girl,

Back in the fifth grade there was a boy in my class I had the biggest crush on! Every time he came near me I just thought I was going to faint! Unfortunately, his way of showing me he liked me was to throw things at me, pull my hair, and make fun of me every chance he got. The more his friends encouraged him the more he became a monster! Years later I found out he actually liked me! Now how weird is that??

Not sure what you have experienced but I will tell you boys at this age are a little special. They are into their action figures, comic books, and games but they are starting to notice girls as well. They want to show you they are interested but at this age the only way they know how is to do things to get a reaction out of you. This is a phase all boys go through and as they mature they get a little better.

My advice to you is to ignore whatever this boy is doing. Make sure you hang around with good friends and get involved in sports, clubs, and other activities that will keep you busy so you don’t have time or a care to notice this weird little boy! If things get out of hand or he is making you feel uncomfortable promise me you will get an adult involved to help clear things up – ok?
