All of my friends know what they want to do when they finish high school except for me. One day I think I want to be a doctor. Another time I think I want to be a model. I don’t know what to do and I don’t know if college will even be right for me. What do you think I should do?

Hey sweetie,

Seems like you are really beating yourself up right now and I want you to stop! There is absolutely nothing wrong with not having a clear direction right now. There are many people your age who have no clue what they will do after HS. Our workshop “No One Else Has!” deals directly with this issue because it is so common. Now – do you feel better?
Let’s turn that negative energy into a positive one. Here are some things to ask yourself to unlock your passion:

1. What is your passion? What do you wake up every morning thinking about doing? What do you go to bed thinking about doing?
2. Someone gave you 1 million dollars and told you it was to take care of your house, car, and food so now go to work or open your business doing anything you wanted without having to worry about money. What type of work or business would that be?
3. Someone offered you your dream career but could not pay you. However you still want to do it, what type of career would that be?

Your answers to these questions will allow you to see the type of direction you may want to pursue. Attending college is great way to go because you will be exposed to so many different types of courses. You may just find one that really interests you and may lead to your passion!
